I'm Coming For You, John Kass

I was recently alerted to John Kass' ignorant article, "Because No Man Should Feel the Agony of This Film," the other day by feminist extraordinaire Sara Freeman at The Women Within. In this pitiful piece, John Kass trashes the Sex and the City movie, proclaims that "millions of men are sick about this movie based on a TV show about four terrifying, rich, aging, elitist women who whine about sex and men and purchase $700 pairs of shoes to feel better about themselves," and offers men "Kass' SATC Absolvo Carta," i.e. the "Get Out of Watching the Sex and the City Movie Card. And guess what? You can actually print out a certificate. How fun! Isn't he just precious?

I would normally ignore an idiot like this, but his egregious affront to women is too offensive to turn the other cheek. I'm furious, and I'm fighting back.

Stay tuned...

Misogyny sees no nationality or credentials. An act of ignorance is an act of ignorance no matter who commits it.

Agreed. At least Roger Ebert had the courtesy to start his review with a "I'm not the right person to review this film" disclaimer. Bah to John Kass.

Well well well hold your horses there my cixous and iragaray in developments. Let's talk about a film as a film (not a 5 times the length TV episode extension of an excuse) and not mix in other issues in that of the type (totally invented): he's the greatest director ever but he's a pedophile or a misoginist or of the type well you can't really see the underlying feminist subversion blah blah....

John Kass opened himself up for character debate when he wrote that article.

I plan on writing a review of the film as a film (who says 5 times an episode length isn't a legitimate movie venture?), but I also plan on attacking John Kass. It would be different if he had made those comments in a review, but he didn't. He chose the assault tactic. It wouldn't have been less offensive in a review, but Kass made his own fight here.

Also, film never exists in a vacuum.

I don't get exactly what you were saying, Dimitrios, can you explain more?
